Our Primary Brand

Nikon Lenswear —
precision you can see.

Nikon has engineered optics for over a century — from cameras to telescopes to the lenses in your glasses. Their new Z Series, launched 2024–2025, is the most advanced progressive technology they've ever produced, inspired by the contrast evaluation method used in their flagship camera lenses.

Introducing the Z Series

Nikon's Z Series merges Z-Contrast technology — borrowed from their professional camera lens development — with decades of progressive design expertise. The result is sharper vision across all zones, wider corridors, and significantly faster adaptation than previous generations.

According to Nikon's research, 80% of progressive wearers are dissatisfied with their current lenses — most without realising the technology has come this far.

Progressive Lenses — Premium Tier
Z Series

Presio Power Z

Dual-power design with a wide intermediate zone for fast, comfortable adaptation. Excellent for first-time progressive wearers or patients upgrading from older technology.

Z Series · New Feb 2025

Presio Inspire Z & Balance Digital Z

The newest additions to the Z Series. Inspire Z suits dynamic, active lifestyles. Balance Digital Z is built specifically for patients who spend most of their day on digital devices.

Presio Wide & Presio Advance

Mid-range progressives offering wide visual zones and comfortable adaptation. Great performance at a more accessible price point.

Single Vision — Precision Options
Digital Life

Relaxsee Z

A gentle power boost in the lower lens relaxes your focusing muscles — reducing digital eye strain without the learning curve of a progressive. Perfect for 25–40 year olds on screens all day.

Myopia

Myopsee Z

Nikon's myopia management single vision lens — designed to slow progression in children and teens by reducing accommodative demand. Pairs well with Ortho-K or atropine treatment.

Nikon Lite AS

A reliable, affordable aspheric single vision lens. Thinner, flatter profile with less distortion than standard lenses — great everyday wear across a wide range of prescriptions.

SeeCoat — Premium Coatings

SeeCoat Next

Premium anti-reflective. Reduces glare, repels dust and smudges, scratch resistant. Water beads off cleanly.

SeeCoat Next Blue

Anti-reflective + blue light filtering. Ideal for long screen hours or LED-heavy environments.

SeeCoat Drive

Optimized for night driving — reduces glare from oncoming headlights and streetlights.

SeeCoat Next Bright

Enhances light transmission and colour vibrancy for the most natural, vivid visual experience.

Clear Indoors

Fully clear inside — you get beautiful colour outdoors without any tint affecting your indoor vision or your appearance at work.

Smart Darkening

Transitions molecules embedded directly in the lens react to UV in seconds — darkening to a rich tint in sunlight and returning to clear indoors.

UV & Blue Light Protection

All PhotoGlamour lenses block 100% of UVA and UVB rays and filter harmful blue light — style and protection working together.

Lens Materials

Thinner, lighter,
clearer.

Not all lenses are made the same. The material determines how thin your lenses look, how light they feel, and how optically clear they are. We'll recommend the right material for your prescription, frame choice, and lifestyle — here's a simple guide to what's available.

🔵 Index 1.50

Standard Plastic (CR-39)

The original plastic lens material. Excellent optical clarity and easy to tint. Best suited for low to mild prescriptions in smaller frames.

📐 Index 1.67

Hi-Index 1.67

Significantly thinner and flatter than polycarbonate. Recommended for moderate to strong prescriptions (roughly ±4.00 and above) where lens thickness is a concern.

🌟 Index 1.74

Hi-Index 1.74

The thinnest prescription lens material available. For strong prescriptions (roughly ±6.00 and above). Dramatically reduces edge thickness — a game-changer for patients who've always had thick lenses.

Not sure which material is right for your prescription? We'll recommend the best option at your consultation — always based on your actual prescription strength, frame choice, and budget.

Blue Light Lenses

Your eyes were
not built for screens.

The average Canadian adult now spends 10–12 hours per day in front of digital screens. Blue light sits at the highest-energy end of the visible spectrum and has been linked to digital eye strain, disrupted sleep, and long-term retinal stress.

Blue light filtering lenses don't change how things look — they selectively block the wavelengths most associated with discomfort while preserving natural colour accuracy.

Who should consider blue light lenses
💻

Office & Remote Workers

If you spend 6+ hours daily on screens, blue light lenses are one of the most effective ways to reduce end-of-day fatigue and headaches.

😴

Poor Sleepers

Blue light suppresses melatonin. Filtering lenses in the evening — or tinted options after sunset — can meaningfully improve sleep quality.

👧

Children & Teens

Young eyes are more susceptible — their clearer lenses transmit more high-energy light to the retina. Protection early matters.

🎮

Gamers

Extended sessions are among the most intensive screen exposure. Blue light lenses reduce strain and make long sessions far more comfortable.

Tints & Coatings

Colour, style, and
serious protection.

Tints aren't just fashion — each colour serves a different visual purpose. We love helping patients get creative with their lenses. Come in and see our full sample collection in person.

Solid & Gradient Tints

Grey

The most versatile tint. True colour perception with reduced brightness — works equally well indoors and outdoors. A classic choice for driving and everyday wear.

Brown / Amber

Reduces glare and enhances contrast — especially in green landscapes, on the water, and in variable light. Loved by golfers, cyclists, and outdoor enthusiasts.

Green / G15

Exceptional contrast without colour distortion. G15 (green-grey blend) is widely regarded as the finest all-purpose sun tint — a staple in premium sunglass lenses for decades.

Yellow / Amber

Filters blue light, enhances depth perception in low light. Popular for overcast days, night driving glasses, and indoor sports like squash or badminton.

Rose / Pink

Reduces glare and eye strain in bright conditions. A warm, flattering choice — genuine visual benefit with a fashionable edge.

Gradient Tints

Darker at the top, fading to clear at the bottom. Perfect for prescription sunglasses where you still need to read clearly at near distance without full tint in the way.

Mirror Coatings

Flash Mirrors

Subtle, semi-transparent mirror finish. Stylish and light-reducing without the full block-out effect. Available in silver, gold, rose, and blue. Versatile enough for everyday city wear.

Full Mirrors

Bold, opaque mirror finish — maximum reflectivity and total privacy from the outside. Best for high-glare environments: water, snow, altitude, or a strong fashion statement. Available in silver, gold, blue, green, and red.

Custom Combinations

Mirror coatings are always applied over an underlying tint. We can combine almost any tint colour and mirror finish — come in and browse our sample book to build your perfect pair.

Polarized Lenses

Polarized lenses contain a special filter that blocks horizontally-reflected light — the glare that bounces off water, roads, snow, and car hoods. Available for prescription and non-prescription lenses, in a range of tints and materials. Essential for driving, fishing, skiing, and water sports.

Transitions® Lenses

Clear indoors, automatically tinted outdoors. Available in Signature Gen 8, XTRActive Polarized, and GEN S — now offered in graphite green, sapphire, amethyst, emerald, and amber. For fashion colours (Grey, Brown, Blue, Green, Purple, Pink) ask about Shamir PhotoGlamour.

Common Questions

Lens questions,
answered simply.

How long do my lenses take to be ready?
Standard single vision and progressive lenses are typically ready in 3–5 business days. Premium or fully personalized lenses (Nikon SeeMax Ultimate Z, Shamir Autograph Intelligence, specialty tints or mirrors) take 5–7 business days due to custom manufacturing. For emergencies — broken or lost glasses — call us first thing in the morning and we'll do our best to arrange same-day replacement for select prescriptions and lens types.
What's the difference between Nikon and Shamir lenses?
Both are world-class brands — you can't go wrong with either. Nikon is our primary brand, particularly known for the new Z Series and its camera-inspired contrast technology. Shamir excels in AI-personalized design and task-specific lenses, and is an excellent choice for heavy screen users or complex prescriptions. Our team will recommend the best fit for your eyes and lifestyle at your consultation.
What lens material is right for my prescription?
For mild prescriptions, standard plastic or polycarbonate work well. For moderate prescriptions, Hi-Index 1.67 gives you noticeably thinner lenses. For strong prescriptions (above ±5.00 or ±6.00), Hi-Index 1.74 makes a dramatic difference in how your glasses look and feel. For children and active adults, polycarbonate or Trivex is recommended due to superior impact resistance. We'll match you with the right material at your consultation.
Are blue light lenses worth it?
For most patients who spend significant time on screens — yes. Many report reduced end-of-day fatigue, fewer headaches, and improved sleep. Blue light filtering is available across all our lens brands and materials, making it an easy and affordable upgrade on any prescription order.
Can I get tints or mirrors on progressive lenses?
Absolutely — tints and mirror coatings are available on most progressive and single vision lens materials. We can add virtually any colour or mirror finish to your prescription lenses. Come in and browse our sample collection so you can see each option before you commit.
What's the difference between Transitions and PhotoGlamour?
Both are photochromic lenses — clear indoors, automatically tinting outdoors in UV light. Standard Transitions come in grey, brown, and graphite green. Shamir PhotoGlamour offers the same Transitions performance in fashion colours: grey, brown, blue, green, purple, and pink. If you want photochromic convenience with a more expressive, personal look, PhotoGlamour is the one to ask about.
Do you offer polarized prescription lenses?
Yes — polarized lenses are available in prescription for both single vision and progressive designs, across multiple tint colours and materials. Polarized lenses block horizontally-reflected glare from water, roads, snow, and car hoods — making them the best choice for driving, fishing, skiing, and any outdoor activity in bright conditions. Ask us about adding polarization to your next pair.
